Environmental guide to natural fibers

Jute

Jute is the most environmental friendly fiber - from seed to fibre. It has an ecological adaptability due to tolerance to salinity, water stress, climate extremes, pests and diseases.

Jute is not subject to the same industrial processes which are applied to cotton. Although water is used in the weaving process to dampen the fabric it is only sprinkled whereas cotton is washed, boiled and bleached.
Jute is bio-degradable and recyclable.

Cotton

Cotton is an water extensive crop and in addition one of the most pesticide laden crops in the world. Heavy reliance of pesticides is required because of low tolerance to pests and diseases. The processing into fiber is complex involving washing, boiling, bleaching, starching and further chemical treatment.

Re-bag ® recommend organic cotton and to reuse your bag again and again - in this way your cotton bag can turn into a environmental friendly product.

Paper

Paper, cardboard, carton etc. - it all comes from the trees. Re-bag ® source paper pulp from factories who holds international certificates for "paper from sustainable sources".

We recommend paper from sustainable sources.
